Laser Welding

High-precision laser welding

Laser welding is an advanced metal joining technology that uses a concentrated laser beam to create precise and aesthetically superior welded joints. At Fermex, we use this technology for applications where conventional welding cannot meet the requirements — whether it involves minimal thermal deformation, extremely thin material, or the need for visually flawless joints without additional finishing.

The main advantage of laser welding lies in the extremely low heat input into the material. The laser beam is focused on an area smaller than one millimetre, which means that the heat-affected zone (HAZ) is minimal. This is especially important for thin-walled stainless steel and aluminium components, where conventional methods may cause bending, deformation, or discoloration of the material. The result is a clean, narrow weld seam that often does not require grinding or polishing.

Laser welding is ideal for the food and medical industries, where hygiene requirements are high and surfaces must remain smooth, without cracks or pores. We also apply it in the electrical industry, precision mechanics, and the production of decorative metal elements.

Fermex is available to provide consultation on the possibilities of applying laser welding in your products.

High-precision laser welding at Fermex

Advantages of laser welding

  • Minimal thermal deformation of the workpiece
  • High precision and repeatability of welded joints
  • Ideal for thin-walled materials starting from 0.2 mm
  • Aesthetically clean joints without the need for additional finishing
  • Fast process with high productivity
  • Smaller heat-affected zone (HAZ) compared to conventional methods

Our Process

1

Part Positioning

Components are precisely aligned and fixtured to ensure optimal joint fit-up. Proper positioning is essential for consistent laser weld quality.

2

Laser Welding

The laser beam is directed along the joint path, creating a deep, narrow weld with controlled heat input. Parameters are optimized for each material and thickness.

3

Visual & Dimensional Inspection

Finished welds are inspected for surface quality, penetration depth and dimensional accuracy to ensure full compliance with specifications.
